Deputy prime minister of Canada since 2019 and the minister of finance since 2020. Chrystia Freeland’s Ukrainian grandfather on her mother’s side is Michael Chomiak, During the War, he edited Krakivski Visti, a Nazi propaganda rag in occupied Krakow that was printed on a press confiscated from a Jewish newspaper.

“Kubiyovych’s Ukrainian Central Committee [UCC] was created by the Abwehr in Krakow in 1940. Nazi payments to the UCC in Krakow were between 600,000 and 720,000 zlotys in 1940. (This is calculated to be the equivalent of between $2.8 and $3.36 million today.) One of the Committee’s expenses was Michael Chomiak’s salary. In an official 1946 “Military Questionnaire” (which Chomiak completed in German), he reported that his annual salary as chief editor for 1940 was 5,000 zlotys. Meanwhile, elsewhere, another UCC was being formed by another “antisemitic”, “anticommunist” government. Yes, the Canadian government, like the Nazi government in Germany, formed a Ukrainian organization with the same acronym, UCC. The UCC that the Liberal government formed in Canada was the Ukrainian Canadian Committee. It’s name was changed in the 1980s to the Ukrainian Canadian Congress.

The new Ukrainian Canadians who emigrated here after WWII included several thousand veterans from two military formations within the Nazi military’s embrace: the Waffen SS Galicia and the Ukrainian Insurgent Army (known by its Ukrainian acronym, UPA). UPA was the militarized wing of that faction of the Organization of Ukrainian Nationalists, the OUN(B), that was led by an infamous Ukrainian fascist named Stepan Bandera.

UCC Ukrainian Canadian Congress, and its longstanding president Paul Grod, who Chrystia Freeland counts among her friends, has long had numerous core national member organizations that represent the leadership of both factions within the OUN, including the more extreme Banderites. Congress membership has also included the key associations representing the UPA, the Waffen SS Galicia, and a Bandera youth organization, YES. Canadian Government tied organizations. On Canadian soil.

In the group photo (Below) Grod and company were flanked by portraits of Queen Elizabeth and Stepan Bandera. These militantly patriotic Ukrainians ‑ like Michael Chomiak and his family ‑ swelled the ranks of existing Canadian émigré groups. They also formed veterans’ associations, were assisted by the Canadian government in founding and sustaining ultra-rightwing media platforms, and took leadership positions in social, religious and political organizations that still comprise the backbone of the UCC. Over the decades, the UCC benefited from the dedicated activism of Ukrainian patriots Michael Chomiak and still today, his granddaughter Chrystia Freeland. Chomiak was involved in a variety of ultranationalist groups linked to the UCC.

The UCC has even lobbied the government “to make changes to Canada’s War Veterans Allowance Act by expanding eligibility to include designated resistance groups such as OUN-UPA. The UPA or Ukrainian Insurgent Army, is another member group of the UCC. It too was a fascist, and extremely racist, antiSemitic military formation. During the first two years following the Nazi invasion of Ukraine (June 1941-June 1943), the Nazis massacred about 500,000 Jews in Eastern Galicia and 200,000 in Volhynia. Although this represented 90% of the Jewish population in these areas when the Germans arrived, almost a million Ukrainian Jews were lucky to escape to the USSR with the retreating Soviet Army when the Nazi invasion began. Taking part in the mass murders which occurred during the early weeks of the Nazi invasion, were special militia units created by the OUN.

When the Nazis occupied Lviv on June 30, 1941, the OUN, declared Ukraine’s independence and posted notices all around the city. The notice stated in part:

“Do not throw away your weapons now. Take them in your hands. Destroy the enemy.…
“People! Know! Moscow, Poland, the Hungarians, the Jews are your enemies. Destroy them!
“Your goal is an Independent United Ukrainian State. Your path is the path of the Ukrainian National Revolution, the path of armed struggle, the path of the OUN.”
“Glory to Ukraine!”

As an outspoken promoter of ultranationalist Ukrainian politics, Freeland has not only carefully avoided any public reference to her grandfather’s wartime propaganda work for the Nazis, she has also steered publicly clear of the whole issue of Nazi-Ukrainian collaboration in general. Freeland’s effective, high-profile activism on behalf of her Ukrainian community has not gone unnoticed by the UCC. In fact, the UCC has often used its publications, events and internet presence to draw prideful attention to the key milestones in Freeland’s career. She is now the highest-profile representative of the UCC and the extremely nationalist Ukrainian political brand that it represents.

Theresa Tam says they know they can get 90% of the public to accept a vaccine and they will “leverage” that 90% to get to the rest. She does not explain the process. How would that work? Would they create enough fear for the 90% to demand the remaining 10% be incarcerated? In a 2010 National Film Board documentary “Outbreak”, Theresa Tam says exactly that. “People that are non-compliant … be trapped and quarantined”.
There are 10 speakers in this session, and every one of them rants against the anti-vaxers spreading disinformation on social media. They exchange ideas and strategies to manage information on social media, and methods of coercion. There is no recognition that many people who oppose vaccines are people who have been damaged by vaccines. This meeting exercised a lot of the rhetoric that we have heard over the past 18 months. “We are all in this together. … Take the vaccine to protect your kids. … Take it to protect your grand parents. … Its biological terrorism (if you refuse the vaccine). … Vaccine passport for travel”.
By the 1hr mark, they start to spell out their true intentions. “A global vaccine action plan”. Their first draft is circulated. The plan will be concluded in the fall. They are talking about behavioral economics and making vaccination acceptance to be the new norm for everyone.
